Travel Through DEN
The busiest days of the year at the busiest airport in the region, in the month the weather is least cooperative. Plan for all three at once.
For Thanksgiving and Christmas travel through Denver International, leave earlier than the usual two-hour recommendation — the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the Sunday after, and December 26 through January 2 are the heaviest days. The days that are actually bad
Holiday congestion is not evenly spread. It concentrates into a handful of departure and return days, and if your travel falls outside them the airport behaves close to normal.
DEN's own recommendation is to arrive at least two hours before departure. On these specific days, treat two hours as the floor rather than the plan.
How much earlier to leave, specifically
For a winter departure we work the pickup backwards from the flight and then add two hours, not fifteen minutes. Metro-area departures get 10 to 15 minutes of slack; the chauffeur stages 15 minutes early, 30 minutes for weddings and events.
That last row is not a sales line. A closed Eisenhower Tunnel on December 27 does not reopen because you have a flight. Groups travelling on a tight mountain-departure day are often better off overnighting in Denver, and we will tell you that rather than sell you the drive.
What our own numbers say about the winter airport
We keep the interval between the flight-linked pickup slot and the passenger actually being in the vehicle at DEN. Across the airport-origin trips in our reservation record:
Winter runs about 27% longer on average, and the tail is what moves — the median barely changes while the share of long waits jumps. Baggage, de-icing and weather delays do not slow down a typical arrival; they create a minority of very slow ones.
Pickup interval means flight-linked pickup time to recorded passenger pickup. It includes baggage claim, passenger readiness, flight changes and curb access, not driver lateness. Figures reflect the Becker-led operation from 2022 through 2026, spanning Luxury Rides Online, Privé and Arion, LLC.
The one policy that matters in holiday weather
We do not cancel your ride because your flight looks bad. Flights are tracked, pickup is set 30 minutes after scheduled landing and moves with the arrival, wait time is included, and the only trigger that releases a vehicle is one hour after landing with no contact from you — and only after dispatch has exhausted every way of reaching you.
If your flight is cancelled outright we issue a credit for the value of the ride and rebook off your new flight information. A cancelled flight is not a cancelled reservation and it is not a no-show. If you divert to Colorado Springs or Grand Junction, tell us and we will come get you.
December 26 through January 2 is the week this policy is worth the most, because it is the week the recovery flights are all full.
Where we meet you at DEN
The default is curbside on Level 5, Island 2 — Door 506 on the west side, Door 511 on the east, depending on which baggage claim your airline uses. Your chauffeur texts the exact spot, because DEN moves doors and staging during construction. An inside meet-and-greet at the top of the escalators with a name sign and help to baggage claim is available for $75.
On a peak holiday evening the inside meet is worth it if you are travelling with children, with more bags than hands, or with anyone who would rather not be standing outside at 22 degrees while three hundred people look for their cars.

Family travel, gifts and the luggage math
Seasonal capacity rule: from November 1 through April 30 the Luxury SUV is booked at five passengers rather than six. The sixth seat becomes luggage space, which leaves room for roughly seven or eight pieces inside. The Executive SUV is five passengers year round.
Holiday luggage is worse than ski luggage in one respect: it is oddly shaped and nobody counts it. Plan on about five large suitcases plus a carry-on each in an SUV and up to eighteen suitcases in a van, with oversized items on the roof. A family of five flying home for Christmas with gifts is usually a van, not an SUV, and finding that out at Door 511 is the wrong time.
Car seats are $25 per seat, boosters are free, and both must be requested before the chauffeur is dispatched.
Rates are hourly and all-inclusive except gratuity, with the first 40 miles of each booking included. Executive Sedan $150/hr (3 passengers, 2-hour minimum), Executive SUV $125/hr (5), Luxury SUV $150/hr, Luxury Coach Van $250/hr (12, 3-hour minimum), Executive/Jet Van $325/hr (9) on a 4-hour minimum. Stretch limousines, party buses and coach buses are quote only. The rate is locked when you book and does not move with demand, weather or the hour of the night.
Booking, and the deadline that matters
Book holiday airport transfers as soon as you have the flight. The peak days concentrate into narrow hours, and vehicle availability at 6 a.m. on December 27 is a genuinely different question from availability at 6 a.m. on January 15.
Cancellation terms are the same on every booking: full refund at 48 hours or more, up to 50% inside 48 hours, nothing inside 24. Tours run on a 7-day window.

What are the busiest travel days at Denver airport for the holidays?
The Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday and Monday after; December 20 through 23 outbound; and December 26 through January 2. Thanksgiving Day itself and December 24 and 25 are genuinely quiet.
How much earlier should I leave for DEN during the holidays?
Add 30 to 45 minutes on top of the usual two-hours-before-departure plan from the metro area, 45 minutes from Boulder, Fort Collins or Colorado Springs, and an extra hour on top of the standard two-hour winter buffer from mountain resorts.
Will you cancel my ride if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
No. We track the flight, pickup moves with the arrival, and wait time is included. If the flight is cancelled outright we issue a credit for the value of the ride and rebook off your new flight. We never cancel a ride on our own initiative.
How long does it take to get out of DEN in winter?
In our record the average from the flight-linked pickup slot to the passenger in the vehicle is 25.5 minutes November through March against 20.1 the rest of the year. The median barely moves; what grows is the share of long waits, from 13.8% over 45 minutes to 19.1%.

How far ahead should I book a holiday airport transfer?
As soon as you have the flight. Peak-day early-morning slots are the first to go.
Is there a late-night or early-morning surcharge?
No. A 4:30 a.m. pickup on December 27 is billed at the same hourly rate as any other.
