In Colorado, rideshare drivers operate under a Transportation Network Company (TNC) framework. That means lower insurance thresholds, background checks run through a private company, and no state vehicle inspections. The driver who picks you up at DIA might have started driving yesterday.
Licensed livery operators like Arion are held to a different standard entirely. PUC certification requires commercial-grade insurance, state-level background checks, DOT compliance, vehicle maintenance records, and annual inspections. The difference isn't a technicality — it's the difference between a regulated commercial operation and someone using their personal car.

Is Arion licensed to operate in Colorado?
Yes. Arion holds an active Colorado PUC (Public Utilities Commission) permit for passenger transportation. This is the same regulatory body that oversees commercial carriers in the state. Our PUC certification number is LL-04689.
How much insurance does Arion carry?
Commercial auto and general liability insurance on every vehicle. Colorado and Denver International Airport require the state minimum for a permitted carrier, and the fixed-base operators at the private terminals set their own floor, so we sit above every threshold that applies to us. General liability was raised to cover motorcoach work. This is commercial insurance that covers passengers for the full duration of service — not a patchwork of personal and commercial policies that change based on whether an app is open.
Are your drivers background checked?
Every Arion chauffeur passes a Colorado Bureau of Investigation background check, DOT drug and alcohol screening, and defensive driving certification. We don't outsource this to a third-party app screening service.
What winter driving training do your chauffeurs have?
All Arion chauffeurs complete annual ice-driving certification and defensive driving training. Colorado mountain roads — especially I-70 to Vail, Highway 82 to Aspen, and Highway 9 to Breckenridge — require specific winter competence that goes beyond having snow tires.
Is Arion a member of any transportation industry associations?
Yes. Arion is a member of the National Limousine Association (NLA) and the Colorado Limousine Association (CLA). We're also an authorized Visit Denver transportation provider and listed on Colorado.com.
Do you carry passengers for hire legally?
Yes. In Colorado, carrying passengers for hire without a PUC permit is illegal unless you operate under a TNC license (rideshare). Arion operates under a full PUC permit with commercial insurance, which provides a higher standard of regulatory oversight and passenger protection than TNC operations.
How are Arion chauffeurs screened and trained?
Every chauffeur passes a criminal background check, MVR review, and drug testing, then trains against Arion's written Driver Excellence Manual and SOP covering ice driving, airport procedure, passenger assistance, and discretion — with annual recertification.
What insurance and licensing does Arion carry?
Colorado PUC authority as a certificated passenger carrier, plus commercial auto and general liability insurance on every vehicle and every trip. Certificates of insurance are available for venues and corporate vendor onboarding.
Do you offer point-to-point trips as well as hourly service?
Both. Point-to-point is priced for a single transfer such as home to DEN or hotel to a venue. Hourly (as-directed) service keeps the same chauffeur and vehicle for dinners, meetings, tours, and multi-stop nights.
What winter equipment do your vehicles carry?
In winter every vehicle runs state-approved winter tires and four-wheel drive. Colorado's Traction Law does not require chains on a 4WD vehicle; our two-wheel-drive vans and buses carry and use the safety equipment the state requires. We also ask our chauffeurs to keep an avalanche preparation kit in the vehicle: flares, roadside triangles, solar blankets, water and snacks. An avalanche beacon is strongly recommended.
How early does the chauffeur arrive?
Fifteen minutes before your pickup time. That window is for a final inspection of the vehicle, a review of the route, a traffic check and, if needed, an alternate route. For weddings the chauffeur is on site thirty minutes prior.
Do you provide car seats?
Yes. We carry rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats and boosters — tell us the type and count when you book so the right equipment is in the vehicle. You fit the seat and give it the final check; the chauffeur will help if you ask. If a child seat is required by law, it is required in our vehicles too. Tell us before the driver is dispatched so the right equipment is in the vehicle.
Does Arion own its vehicles, or use affiliate operators?
Both. 82.6% of our completed trips are run on Arion’s own vehicles with Arion chauffeurs. The remainder is covered by a small group of vetted Colorado PUC-certified affiliate operators who are trained to Arion’s written standards and dispatched by Arion. Whichever vehicle arrives, the booking, the dispatch, the communication, and the accountability are ours.
How does Arion vet an affiliate operator?
Before an affiliate carries an Arion client we verify active Colorado PUC passenger authority by permit number, collect a certificate of insurance meeting or exceeding our own commercial auto liability limits, require a motor vehicle record and criminal background check on every assigned chauffeur, require a DOT-standard drug and alcohol testing program, apply our vehicle inspection and condition standards, and require a signed acknowledgment of Arion’s Driver Excellence Manual and SOP — the same document our own chauffeurs sign. Every trip is reviewed afterward, and operators who miss the standard do not get repeat work.
Do your published trip and safety numbers include affiliate trips?
Yes, and we would rather say so than round the number down.
