E-470 is the default for anything airport-bound from Brighton, Lochbuie or Hudson — tolled, uncongested, and the reason a Hudson pickup can beat a Cherry Creek one to the terminal. US 85 is the north–south spine through Brighton and Fort Lupton; it moves well outside commute hours and badly at 7:30 a.m. through the Brighton signals. I-76 carries Lochbuie and Hudson toward Denver and is the first road in the metro to close in a ground blizzard. Highway 7 and 144 connect the farm towns sideways and are two-lane, unlit and full of ag equipment in September and October.
The practical rule: from this corridor, going to DEN is easy and going to downtown Denver is not. Henderson to downtown is 16 miles but crosses the I-270 merge; Hudson to downtown is 33 miles and about 42 minutes on a good day. If your day includes both, tell dispatch the downtown leg first — it is the one that sets the schedule.
Adams County seat since the county was created in 1901, incorporated in 1887 and named after Brighton Beach, New York. Population 40,083 at the 2020 census, elevation about 4,984 feet. The restored Armory is the local performing arts venue, and Barr Lake State Park sits just southeast at 13401 Piccadilly Road.

Home to Dick's Sporting Goods Park, which opened in April 2007, and the only entrance to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge — nearly 16,000 acres of restored prairie with a bison herd, established in 1992.
Unincorporated Adams County, ZIP 80640, gradually being annexed by Commerce City, Brighton and Thornton. Addresses here confuse navigation apps more than anywhere else on the corridor, so we confirm the cross street when we confirm the ride.
Weld County, 7,955 residents in 2020, elevation 4,915 feet. Named for Lancaster Lupton, who built an adobe trading post here in the late 1830s; the reconstruction stands at South Platte Valley Historical Park northwest of town. Trapper Days in September closes Main Street for the parade.
