Red Rocks Parking: The Full Picture

Parking at Red Rocks is free. But "free" comes with a cost.

The parking lots

Red Rocks has three main parking areas: the Upper North Lot, the Upper South Lot, and the Lower South Lot. The upper lots are closest to the venue and fill first. Once they're full — which happens early for any popular show — you're directed to the lower lot or overflow areas, which can be a half-mile walk uphill to the entrance.

When lots fill up

For sold-out shows and big-name headliners, the upper lots can fill 60-90 minutes before showtime. That means if you're arriving an hour early (which most people think is plenty), you might be parking in overflow. Gates typically open 90 minutes before the show — the earlier you arrive, the better your parking spot.

The exit problem

Getting in is manageable. Getting out is where the real frustration hits. After a show, 9,000+ people walk to their cars at the same time and funnel onto a two-lane road. The result: 30-45 minutes of bumper-to-bumper traffic just to reach I-70 or C-470. On the biggest nights, it can take over an hour.

This is the single biggest reason people switch to private car service. With a chauffeur positioned for pickup, you walk out and drive off while everyone else is still in the lot.

Red Rocks Gate Locations & Drop-Off

Main entrance (Trading Post Trail)

The primary entrance for most shows. Accessible from the Upper South Lot. This is where the majority of foot traffic enters. If you're being dropped off by a private car, this is the closest entrance with the shortest walk to your seats.

North entrance

Accessible from the Upper North Lot. Less crowded on most nights and a good option if the south side is backed up. Our chauffeurs know when to use this entrance based on real-time traffic flow.

Top of the amphitheatre (Row 70)

If you have seats in the upper rows, the north entrance puts you closer to your section. For lower rows, the main (south) entrance is shorter. Our drivers know which entrance is best for your seat location — just share your row number when you book.

ADA & accessibility

Accessible parking and drop-off is available near the main entrance. ADA seating is in the front rows. If you or anyone in your group has mobility needs, let us know when booking — we'll coordinate the closest drop-off point.

Cost of Getting to Red Rocks

A real comparison of what concert-goers actually spend.

Option Cost (2 people) Time Lost Stress Level
Drive yourself Free parking + gas
~$15-20
30-60 min exit traffic High — parking, dark walk, DD
Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) $30-50 there
$60-120+ home (surge)
15-45 min post-show wait High — surge, availability
Shared shuttle bus $25-40/person
$50-80 for two
Fixed schedule, group wait Medium — not your timeline
Private car (Arion) $345+ (sedan, 3 hrs)
Split with friends = less
Zero — vehicle waiting None — door to door

With 4 people splitting a sedan, a private car to Red Rocks costs about $85/person — comparable to a surge-priced rideshare, but with zero wait time, a luxury vehicle, and guaranteed pickup.

What to Know Before You Go

🌡️ Weather at Red Rocks

At 6,450 feet, Red Rocks is 10-15° cooler than Denver after dark. Even in July, temperatures can drop into the 50s by the end of a show. Bring a jacket or layers. Afternoon shows in summer can be hot — sunscreen and water are essential.

🎒 What to bring

Sealed water bottles (one per person), blankets, low-back chairs for general admission rows, layers for temperature drops. Leave coolers, umbrellas, lawn chairs, and large bags at home — they're not allowed.

⏰ When to arrive

Gates open 90 minutes before showtime. For the best parking, arrive when gates open. For private car drop-off, 30-45 minutes before showtime is ideal — you skip the parking and walk right in.

🍽️ Dining before the show

Morrison has a handful of restaurants (The Fort, Morrison Inn, Café Prague), but they fill up fast on show nights. Many clients have dinner in Denver and let us handle the timing. We'll get you from the restaurant to your seats with time to spare.

How Concert Night Actually Works with Arion

Here's what a typical Red Rocks night looks like when you book with us:

1

6:00 PM — Pickup at your door

Your chauffeur arrives at your home, hotel, or restaurant. The vehicle is cleaned, stocked with water, and ready. You pick the music.

2

6:30 PM — Drop-off at the gate

We pull up to the venue entrance — not a parking lot, not a drop zone. The entrance. You walk in while everyone else is still looking for parking.

3

7:00 PM — Show starts

Enjoy the show. Your chauffeur waits, monitors the setlist, and positions the vehicle before the last song.

4

10:15 PM — Walk out, ride home

Show ends, you get a text: "I'm at the south entrance in the black Suburban." You walk out, step in, and you're home in 30 minutes while everyone else sits in the lot.

"Private car pick up from DIA to Hotel & Dinner then off to Red Rocks for Sturgill Simpson Show. Great Service cold drinks and always courteous. Do yourself a favor — just book it."

Skip the parking lot. Book the ride.

Because You Matter. And your concert night should prove it.
